Have you ever had to deal with a dripping faucet? The constant, slow drip can drive you insane. Did you know that we can be dripping faucets too?
Proverbs 27:15-16 says,
15 A quarrelsome wife is like
a constant dripping on a rainy day;
16 restraining her is like restraining the wind
or grasping oil with the hand.
Our nagging and pointing out faults can drive our husbands batty. How would you like to be on the receiving end of someone constantly pointing out things you do wrong? I know I wouldn't. I've been around people like that and it was horrible, and yet, I can often do that myself.
What does dripping water do? It erodes and tears away at whatever it drips on. When we nag, we are tearing away at our husbands. Do it long enough and eventually it will leave a hole that is beyond repair.
Let's remember to build up our husbands and our homes. I want my husband and children to look back on their life with me and remember me as one who encouraged them, not tore away at them. Sometimes, that means I have to bite my tongue and deliberately find words of encouragement.
So, my encouragement to you today is......
Don't be a drip!
