Wednesday Words of Encouragement

"If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all." Isaiah 7:9b

Ahaz, king of Judah, was afraid because he found that three other nations had aligned together to destroy him. The Lord sent the prophet Israel to reassure Ahaz.

Previously in this passage, the Lord tells Ahaz, "Be careful, keep calm and don't be afraid. Do not lose heart because of these two smoldering stubs of firewood- because of the fierce anger of Rezin and Aram and the son of Remaliah."

How often do we look at the circumstances around us and begin to get fearful? How many nights do we lie awake worrying about finances, children, husbands, parents, and a host of other things? There are so many times that we can't see the end result of a decision we made and we begin to doubt. There are times that we don't see any progress in some of the things we are trying to accomplish. The problems seem huge and we seem small.

This passage tells us that if we do not stand firm in our faith, we will not be able to stand. If our faith is weak, we will wobble and fall.  If our faith is strong, we can face whatever comes our way.

As you face your circumstances, do not lose faith in the One who can see the end of the road. Do not give up because the Lord is in control. He is there with you and He will see you through.

Keep the faith today!
