Hidden Treasure

Gossip.  Thief.   Adulterer.  Outsider.

Labels.  We use them all the time.  We place them on everyone who is different than us.  So often we look at people around us and whatever label we decide to give them is how we treat them.

Yet, if we would get rid of the label, take the time to get to know them and to listen, we would find that there is more than meets the eye.  If we listen to their heart and hurts, we would begin to see them the way God sees them.  We would see that they are far more than whatever label we have put on them. But most people never get to that point because they refuse to remove the label.

I'm so thankful that God looks past our label.  He looks beyond the walls, behaviors and actions we present to the world to see the hidden treasure that is buried beneath.  He sees our potential.  He views us with the end result in mind.  In God's eyes I am far more than my mistakes.

Let's take the time today to look past people's mistakes.  Take time to look deep into their heart.  Ask the Lord to forgive you for the judgmental and critical spirit you may have.

Ask Him to give you His eyes today.

  1. It seems we fight with labels with our children quiet a bit lately. By this I mean people tend to put labels on them because they are "different" and have some issues. It always upsets me because I know labels don't define and God doesn't use labels at all, He just calls us "His". Lovely post.
