Wednesday Words of Encouragement

Romans 11:33-12:2 (NIV)

Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God!
How unsearchable his judgments,
and his paths beyond tracing out!
"Who has known the mind of the Lord?
Or who has been his counselor?"
"Who has ever given to God,
that God should repay him?"
For from him and through him and to him are all things.
To him be the glory forever! Amen.

Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

God is the author of the universe. Everything we have and everything we occurs because He has allowed it. Every good thing in our lives is from the Lord. Because of that we should present ourselves to Him as living sacrifices. What exactly does that mean?

All of our desires, hopes, dreams, and lives should be given to God for His purposes. God needs to be first in our lives. Should we do anything less? Yet so often we hold out on God. It’s like a child who hangs on tight to a toy and won’t let someone have it.

So often we think, “Well I go to church once a week so I’ve done my duty.” “I tithe my money so God must be pleased.” “I read my Bible and pray every day so I’m doing okay.” Yet, are we truly willing to give up everything to the Lord?

According to these verses, the willingness to give it all to the Lord is our act of worship. It’s not just attending church. It’s not just tithing. It’s not just reading His word and praying or whatever other thing you can think of. God wants the sacrifice of ourselves and when we do that, we are truly worshiping the Lord.

So, are you holding out on God? Is there something that you know He is requiring of you and you are not willing to give it up? Is there something He wants you to do and you are refusing to do it?

As you totally surrender to the Lord, He will transform you into someone that He can use.  I encourage you today to give it up. Let it go. Give it to God and you will be blessed!
