The Simple Things

Sometimes, the simple things are more fun and meaningful than all the banquets in the world.” ~ E.A. Bucchianeri

I'm so thankful for this week that Dan, Emily and I had together. It felt a bit strange going on vacation without the boys and even though Stephen slept here at night, we really didn't see much of him because he was working and when he wasn't working, he was hanging out with friends. But it ended up being a much needed time with our girl.

Emily is a lot like me. She needs down time and when she is home she tends to get overwhelmed with the noise, and she hibernates in her room. I don't have that luxury! lol
This week was really very peaceful and she was able to spend a lot of time talking to us and sharing her life with us.

We are so used to being around people 24/7 that it felt strange at first and seemed like we were being anti-social since we didn't go see friends that live here on the campgrounds, but it was good to connect as a couple and also with our daughter. I love that we were able to do some simple things that cost nothing and yet, were so much fun.

Dan and Emily are leaving this morning, but he and I were able to get in an early morning kayaking jaunt and that was wonderful. We may not be able to afford expensive vacations or even vacations that aren't so expensive, but we do enjoy one another's company and love the simple things in life.

That makes for a very happy life!
