My Girls

Every Thursday night our church has 13 girls, ages 6-12 that come and enjoy two hours of 3D Girls. 3D stands for Devotion to God, Creative Disciplines (Cooking and Crafting), and Dramatic Arts (Dance and Music). Jenna is my co-leader and she is an absolute gift from God. Her parents have attended our church for the past 4 years. She recently graduated from college with a degree in Dramatic Arts and has decided to stay in the area.

Together, we have been teaching these children every Thursday. When the girls first started coming they would only sit and hang out with the girls they already knew. However, this past year we have been teaching them about friendship and the kind of friends that God wants them to be. As a result we've seen some real changes. They all have become good friends, regardless of age differences.

We've seen them come from being shy, insecure girls in September to confident, young ladies. One of the mothers commented to me one day that the change in her daughter has been tremendous.

I love my girls and Thursday is the highlight of my week. Jenna and I work really well together. We both have similar personalities and seem to be able to know instinctively what the other wants and needs during the evening.

The girls have had many opportunities to perform their dance and music. The next event coming up is Sunday, February 24th. They will be leading our entire worship service. The really neat thing is that the majority of these girls are unchurched. Yet, as a result of 3D Girls many of these parents are starting to show up on Sunday mornings, even when their girls are not doing anything.

Please pray for Kathryn, Kendall, Emily, Ashley, Sarah, Shannon, Veronica, Samantha, Callie, Rachel, Rebecca, Heather, and Morgan as well as their parents. Here are some pictures from our last 3D Girl's night.

Aren't they cute?

  1. these girls sound and look precious! I bet it is a ton of fun!!
Oh and by the way, I have always thought I may be adopted. I am nothing like my family. I am referred to as the "white" sheep of the family. Since I am "good" and most of my family is into drugs and stuff. We could be long lost sisters!! LOL
