Praise and Thanksgiving

"Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ." Ephesians 5:19-20

Good morning! Do you have music in your heart this morning? Can you sing to the Lord even during difficult days? How do you do this? I think the key is givng thanks to God the Father for everything! It's hard to be joyful if you're not thankful.

Do you make a habit of constantly lifting up thanks to God? I'm not just talking about the good things though often we forget to do that as well. Do you thank God for the trials he has brought into your life? Do you thank him for whatever it is that he wants you to learn from the struggle you are going through?

If we are to sing and make music it requires us getting our eyes off the circumstances and onto God. LIft up praises of thanksgiving to him as you go about your day. Thank him in each and every circumstance! Don't feel like it? I say fake it until you make it. Say the words of thanksgiving even if you don't feel very thankful. Put on that praise music and sing even if you don't feel like praising. If did everything based on our feelings we wouldn't get very far in life.

So put praise on your lips today and your heart will follow.

    Wonderful words of Wisdom. I need to Praise God more for everything he allows me to go through because He is molding me to be fit for His Kingdom and to be made into the Image of Christ! That is why God allows testing and trials in our life. Thanks, Terri for reminding me of this. I will begin right now by thanking God for you.

  Despite the unexpected busyness and interruptions, I have been plugging away at my weight loss as well as writing the plant-based, whole food cookbook. Recipe testing fell by the wayside the past two weeks, but I've still gotten a good chunk of the book done. I also got on the scale this morning for another one pound loss which makes a total of 61 lbs. since I started this journey back in July. It's second nature at this point and I have so much more energy and feel healthy. The only negative is that because I've lost so much weight I'm seeing some sagging, crepe-papery skin happening. Yuck. Some of that is age and I need to figure out some toning exercises. It's definitely a life-style change, but a positive one which I'm so thankful I started on. Haste Makes Waste in Decision-Making

Those of you who are methodical and think things through before acting or responding probably don't have to reflect on the saying, "haste makes waste" too much. But for some it's a hard lesson to learn, especially if you are a quick decision maker. I did look up where the saying came from and it was first recorded in the  apocryphal Book of Wisdom around 190 BCE. It says, “There is one that toileth and laboureth, and maketh haste, and is so much the more behind.” Over time it was shortened to the quip we know today. For myself, it's a lesson I've had to learn. I've spent countless hours throughout the years having to go back and redo something or find solutions to problems brought about by being too hasty in my actions or response in agreeing to  do something another wants me to do.  To be honest, that later problem is more of what I have struggled with in my life. The Result of Staying Connected

 In 2024 I wanted to work on staying connected in three areas of my life - to the Lord, to others and to the purpose He has given to me. In John 15, Jesus uses an analogy that his disciples would have understood very clearly - that of a grape vine. Throughout this passage he uses the word, "remain."  He tells his disciples the following 5 things: Branches that don't remain connected to the vine do not bear fruit and are thrown away.  Those branches that do bear fruit will be pruned to make them even more fruitful.  Jesus reminds them that His word must remain in them in order to be fruitful. He lets them know that they must remain in God's love as they go out and love others. They can't love in their own strength.
