An Award

Debbie honored me with an award which blesses my socks off because I honestly don't think this blog is anything special. Usually I feel like I'm struggling to come up with something to say or I'm just babbling on and on. Thank you Debbie for your thoughtfulness!

  1. Your blog is lovely! Congratulations on the award. I understand your frustration with the testing. It is really unfair ( and I think harmful) to put a child through a test that is clearly going to be stressful and really difficult. On a tiny level I know how it feels to try to do an exam that is impossible- 1st year university chemistry. I attended every lecture and just didn't get it. I couldn't even understand the first question on the final exam. That made me feel really bad, but luckily I have real strengths in other areas. My students are impossible to test. I kind of think of them as ageless because they just don't fit the developmental path of other people. I guess it will be important to emphasise that the tests were not written for people with different learning needs (and that is a problem with the tests - not the special person). Everyone is different and has special qualities and strengths, and many of these can't be tested using pen and paper. So best of luck with the testing. XXX
