My mother made me this dress and brought it with her when she visited. It's very cute. I actually will need to take it in a bit in the hip area but other than that it fits great.
I love it! I've been wanting to make dresses in a similar style for this summer, but have struggled with finding a pattern that actually fits. Until I get done modifying a pattern, I think it would have been quicker to just make my own! :-)
Oh you look lovely :) And the dress is very nice! I actually like my dresses bigger thru the hips and all...gives me more room to move ;) That way I can get down on the floor and be comfy :)
Terri, You look so lovely in that dress. What a delight to be able to take it up in the hips -- reward for all your effort! Your mother is very talented. I see where your talent comes from! Miriam p.s.-pray that I will be able to lose weight.
Very pretty! Great job Dianne! Isn't it great when our moms do things like this for us Terri? My kids get so excited when my mom makes them something. Unfortunately, she doesn't make me any clothes anymore! :0(
Miriam, I will pray for you. It is discouraging, I know. So hang in there and keep it up. :-)
Laura, now I have an image of you rolling around on the floor in a dress. LOL! Actually, I'm the same way. In children's church, I'm always down on the floor with the children.
It looks great on you, Terri. The skirt is suppose to have a little flair to it anyway. I would leave it like that for awhile if I were you. Thanks for modeling it. :)
Despite the unexpected busyness and interruptions, I have been plugging away at my weight loss as well as writing the plant-based, whole food cookbook. Recipe testing fell by the wayside the past two weeks, but I've still gotten a good chunk of the book done. I also got on the scale this morning for another one pound loss which makes a total of 61 lbs. since I started this journey back in July. It's second nature at this point and I have so much more energy and feel healthy. The only negative is that because I've lost so much weight I'm seeing some sagging, crepe-papery skin happening. Yuck. Some of that is age and I need to figure out some toning exercises. It's definitely a life-style change, but a positive one which I'm so thankful I started on. The pictures above are a small selection of meals I've eaten the past two months and many of those will be included in the book. This will be a printable e-book as I find that will be the easiest and most cost ...
Those of you who are methodical and think things through before acting or responding probably don't have to reflect on the saying, "haste makes waste" too much. But for some it's a hard lesson to learn, especially if you are a quick decision maker. I did look up where the saying came from and it was first recorded in the apocryphal Book of Wisdom around 190 BCE. It says, “There is one that toileth and laboureth, and maketh haste, and is so much the more behind.” Over time it was shortened to the quip we know today. For myself, it's a lesson I've had to learn. I've spent countless hours throughout the years having to go back and redo something or find solutions to problems brought about by being too hasty in my actions or response in agreeing to do something another wants me to do. To be honest, that later problem is more of what I have struggled with in my life. I have difficulty saying no to people so tend to get caught up in their enthusiasm and agree...
In 2024 I wanted to work on staying connected in three areas of my life - to the Lord, to others and to the purpose He has given to me. In John 15, Jesus uses an analogy that his disciples would have understood very clearly - that of a grape vine. Throughout this passage he uses the word, "remain." He tells his disciples the following 5 things: Branches that don't remain connected to the vine do not bear fruit and are thrown away. Those branches that do bear fruit will be pruned to make them even more fruitful. Jesus reminds them that His word must remain in them in order to be fruitful. He lets them know that they must remain in God's love as they go out and love others. They can't love in their own strength. If they remained connected to the vine then they would produce a lasting fruit that would stand the test of time. My goals and activities all centered around the idea of staying connected and while I did have some distractions, I did a fairly goo...
