Yearly Goal Review

I woke up this morning and realized that it's August 1st already!  7 months of 2013 finished and the time seems to be flying by.  I realized that I haven't taken a look at my yearly goals in a while so I thought I should revisit them to make sure I'm on track.

Here were the goals that I wrote out at the beginning of the year.  Underneath each category I've written my evaluation.

2013 Goals

Spiritual Goals
► Set aside regular time reading my Bible and spending time in prayer.
► Keep a journal of how God is providing for us so I don't forget.

I've been doing pretty well with a regular time.  I love it now that the weather is nice because I just take my Bible, journal and coffee out on the back deck and have it there.  The only distraction is all the wild life that's constantly around.

I find that my journal of blessings is done here as part of Multitude Monday.  I had planned on writing them down but find this is easier.

Marriage Relationship
► Work on saying 2-3 positive things to my husband each day.
► Have a date night 2 times per month.

I haven't consciously paid attention to the first one but things are going well.  I'm trying to be much more aware of my responses and tone when I'm talking!  I'm not sure if we've managed 2 times every single month but we have definitely gone out on a few dates.

Health & Nutrition
► Lose 30 lbs. this year.
► Take a multivitamin each day to increase Vitamin D levels (they are low)
► Have an intentional exercise time at least 3 times per week.

I'd like to say the 10 lbs. I've lost so far this year were because of my diligence but it's mostly because I was sick for about 8 weeks with diverticulitis.  But 10 lbs. is 10 lbs. and I'll take it anyway I can get it!  Vitamin D levels are back to normal so I've done good on that goal.  Exercise hasn't happened since Dan's work schedule changed and we can't go to the gym together.  I definitely need to get back to that.

Household Organization
► Set up household budget on Excel
► Keep food and household budget to $125 per week.
► Improve garden soil so it will produce better.
► Complete 1 craft or sewing project per week.

I have the budget set up on Excel but I'm about 3 months behind in entering in the figures.

I've been doing a good job in keeping the food to about $125 per week.  Some weeks were higher but others were lower so it's averaged out to that.

No garden this year.

Crafting is on track.

Ministry
► Invite at least 2 people/families over per month.

I've been doing okay with this. Summer is hard because Dan doesn't get home until 6-6:30 so during the week it's difficult to have anyone over, but overall it's been good.

Personal
► Complete one writing project this year. I have a couple of things in the works and I would like to finish one of them this year.
► Read at least one book per month just for the joy of it.

Completed a major writing project this year - Words of Encouragement for a Discouraged World finished and published!  I'm working on a new book that should be complete by September.

This is the first year in many that I've actually read just for pleasure.  I try and read for about a half hour each night.  I usually make it through a chapter or two before I fall asleep! lol

Anyway, I've done a pretty good job this year of sticking with my goals and actually accomplishing them.  I think not having a hundred, unrealistic goals has actually helped!

Comments

  1. You HAVE done well Terri! You also are to be commended for following up on your yearly goals. Most people, myself included, do not do that. I think mid year is a great time for me set goals and then check back on them regularly, as you've done.
