Wednesday Words of Encouragement

Matthew 5:6 ~

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they will be filled.

Isaiah 55:1-3 ~

Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why spend money on what is not bread and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of fare. Give ear and come to me; hear me, that your soul may live. I will make an everlasting covenant with you, my faithful love promised to David.

Thanksgiving is coming!  I love the turkey and dressing, mashed potatoes & gravy and of course, the pies.  There is always so much food and of course, we probably all tend to overdo it in the eating department.  Without fail I'll think, "I'm stuffed!"  "I don't need to eat until tomorrow."  And yet, just a few hours later I begin to feel hungry again.  Our bodies are made in such a way that we burn off the energy and we have to continually eat again to get re-nourished.   We never stay full and satisfied.

The Lord wants to fill us spiritually too.  But He promises that He will fill us to the point that we will feel satisfied. The beautiful thing about this is that what He has to offer is free; it doesn't cost us anything.  Jesus already paid the price for us.  We can eat and drink from Him for free and be totally filled up with Him. It won't matter what we go through because He will fill us with His hope and His contentment. We won't be left longing for more.

How do we eat and drink from Him?

Spend time in His word. Read it, meditate on it, find out how He wants you to live.

Spend time in prayer. Talk to God and listen. Ask Him to show you what He wants you to do.

Memorize scripture. Learn His word so that when you are facing a difficult time, you will remember what the Lord wants you to do.

As you go through your days and physically eat, remember to also eat and drink from the Lord.  Fill up on the things that won't leave you hungering for more!
