Saturday Meanderings

This summer is such a strange one because the things we normally do we aren't able to. Dan and I are down to one car and with Emily home and working we need to stick close to home to get her to and from work. On the days Nathan doesn't work we let her use our car and then we can use his if we need one. So some of my normal activity isn't happening and vacation definitely isn't happening this year.

This past week was one in which I spent a lot of time in my kitchen and at the sewing machine. I baked cookies and breads for the market, I filled orders at my sewing machine. The past few days I've done my best not to melt away as it is so incredibly hot and humid here.  I was drenched in sweat at the market yesterday. Yuck!

Speaking of the market, yesterday's market was a disappointment. Only four vendors showed up and very few shoppers. I'm not sure if it was because of the holiday weekend or because of the weather. But despite that, I actually did fairly well with my sales. Imagine how well I would have done if there was a crowd! lol But I'm very thankful that I'm doing it this year. I've gotten to meet new people and have had some great conversations. I even met a couple yesterday from another church of our denomination that were up and visiting the area.

Stephen had the day off yesterday so Dan and he went mountain climbing. They both love to do it and it was nice that they got to spend the day together.

Dan and I did get to go for a hike on the 4th of July in the early morning. There are local waterfalls not too far away and so we were able to get out before it got too hot. The exciting thing for me was the last time I was there was last summer and could barely walk. We hiked and I went up and down steep stairs with no pain. I'm so thankful that my knees are completely healed.

We have one more day of miserable heat and humidity and then it's supposed to cool back off. I've been trying my best not to complain about it too much because the alternative here is three feet of snow! lol

Dan and I are off to the regional market this morning to grocery shop. Have a wonderful weekend!
