Thankful Thursday

Have you ever felt the presence of God so clearly that it removed all doubts in your mind? Have you felt peace flood over you and just rested in Him? I have felt this recently.

We have seen God's hand on us in every single step of this move and I am amazed as I reflect on all He has done. In fact, there are days when I feel like I'm forgetting something, or surely there must be some little thing that I've overlooked. But no, there really isn't anything.

My feeling about ministry is that there is an ebb and flow that happens and right now things are flowing well. My role is so different here than it has been in any of the previous 4 churches we have been in. Some of that is because it's a bigger congregation. The church has a long one hundred year history. We've always been in small churches of 40 or less people which required both Dan and I to wear many hats. This one has deep roots and well established roles and programs.

Dan has a well-defined job. Me, not so much. But with that comes freedom. It's the freedom to take my time and figure out where I should fit. The worship team invited me to sing with them and for that, I'm thankful. It is one of the things in my life that has just been an activity that brings pure enjoyment.

The house is coming together nicely and I still have things to put away and pictures to hang but the pile has shrunk considerably and should be gone altogether by next week.

Nathan started his job on Monday and the thing that is going to be a hard adjustment for him is working nights. His sleep cycle is off. He also is under the impression that he will not be getting as many hours as originally thought so that makes him stressed.

Stephen is doing well on his own. He came for a visit this past weekend and it was nice to have him here for a few days.

Emily went out for coffee with a young lady from church yesterday and they seemed to hit it off. She has been more cheerful than I've seen in her in quite a while. She is headed back to college on Sunday afternoon to finish out her junior year.

We've had family over for lunch. We've gone to other's homes. My desire is to hurry up and get the house set so we can begin to have people over. I love to entertain and this house is great for that. I've been able to do some of the normal things I enjoy.

Made lemon-poppy seed scones to take to a friend's house

Made healing salve with tea tree oil and grapefruit oil

Went to the local Lucille Ball museum with friends.

I'm very thankful that I chose to keep this table as we had ten for lunch the other day.
It's starting to look homey

I'm headed to the church this morning to sit in on a meeting via my computer and then to get some other work done. I still miss our previous congregation but I also know that God is with us here and has good things for us in the coming years.

I'm thankful on this Thursday!
