Afternoon Recharging
The past few afternoons Dan and I have had the opportunity to get out and walk at the local Audubon center. It's only about 6 miles from our house and while we could just walk the neighborhood, my sweet husband knows how much I love being out in nature where I can take pictures and decompress. We usually end up walking about 2-3 miles when we go and we generally walk in silence.
The reason for the silence is that we are lost in our own thoughts but also want to be able to catch sight of different birds and animals and realize if we are talking, we will miss them.
I spent about 5 1/2 hours at the church yesterday, getting work done and then we came home, changed our clothes and headed out. As we walked I could feel my head clearing and peace settling over me. We were only gone a little over an hour, but it was just enough to get some exercise, get rejuvenated, and ready to face the rest of the day.
It does seem a shame that the winters are so long here in the Northeast because I'm going to miss these times. However, I'm going to try and stretch them out as long as I can. We do have snowshoes but it's a lot harder to juggle a camera, gloves, bulky coats and try and stay upright all at the same time! And I don't like being cold. :-)
I guess it'll be back to the gym when the snow starts flying, but hopefully that won't be for a few more months.
You'll have to buy snow shoes. :-)
ReplyDeleteAlready have them! lol
DeleteLove your pictures. You are correct about winter being so long however I think I would actually miss winter if I lived where there was no snow. Even though it is my least favourite season it reminds me life continues as "normal" and that God is still in control.
ReplyDeleteHave a wondert weekend.
You too, Theresa!
