'Shrooms and the Body
It's been so hot and humid that fungi are popping up everywhere, including my yard. I could never figure out why one day there would be nothing in the yard and the next day I'd see large toadstools. Turns out mushrooms double in size every 24 hours. Who knew? There are so many very interesting facts about mushrooms.
The photos above are from a recent walk. Unless you are looking closely, it's easy to miss them. Often they blend right into the environment and are hidden on the forest floor under leaves. And yet, these often unnoticed fungi are vital to the ecosystem.
They remind me how we can often feel unnoticed and unseen and yet, each and every one is vital to the body of Christ and important in the Lord's eyes. Take away one gift in the church and it leaves a hole. We tend to focus on the gifts of speaking, leading, worship, and the more noticeable ones. Yet, if those with the gifts of administration, service, counseling or helps don't use their gifts then it quickly becomes noticeable, and the body begins to unravel.
Each of you is a vital part of the Kingdom of God. Each has a role to play and each one of you are equally important in God's eyes. We are all to use whatever God has given us to build up the body of Christ and for His glory. And whatever the gift is, we are to use it in a way that shows we are doing it for Christ. To Him be the glory and honor and praise.
Colossians 3:17 ~
And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
