The Morning Multitude
Each morning I wake up and stumble my way to the kitchen and pour myself a cup of coffee. I then make my way to my favorite chair, open up my bible and journal, and settle in to spend some time in the word and hearing from the Lord. This morning time has become sweeter as I age and is something I look forward to each day.
It's been the time that centers my thoughts and prepares me for the busyness of each day. It's also the time when some of those anxious thoughts that nag at me recede and where I find hope and joy to face each new challenge. I also find that it is the time when I'm reminded of the multitude of blessings that I have in my life.
On Monday I look back over the previous week and attempt to come up with a list of ways I've been blessed, where I've seen the Lord at work, and things I'm thankful for in my life.
Last week was very busy as I plunged back in after vacation. However, there are many things to be thankful for in the middle of the busyness.
💓 My father-in-law has adjusted to his assisted living facility and seems to be happy there.
💓 I'm thankful for the group of pastors and ministry leaders that meet weekly to pray for one another and our city.
💓 A group of us women who are ordained or in ministry leadership have our own support and prayer group and I'm thankful for these ladies. Leadership as a woman in ministry is difficult to navigate and I'm thankful for others who understand. I'm looking forward to our monthly breakfast this week.
💓 I'm thankful for a time of coffee and conversation I had with a woman in our church. We had a conversation about outreach and discipleship and how to connect the two. I'm thankful for opportunities to teach and mentor and collaborate.
💓 I'm thankful that in the middle of busyness I found time to clean my house! 😉
💓 We had a wedding at our church this weekend and I am thankful that we could celebrate this couple. They have been through a major storm in their lives recently and have a testimony of God working in unimaginable ways. I'm so thankful for them and how He is continuing to work in their lives. It was a sweet time celebrating their love for one another.
💓 I'm thankful for my husband's ability to connect with people who are often on the periphery. He has such a wonderful ability to draw them in.
💓 A time of counseling and prayer with someone before the service yesterday. I'm thankful for those opportunities.
💓 Wonderful fellowship over an impromptu luncheon. There was so much food leftover from the wedding that we decided to have lunch after the morning service yesterday.
and finally...
💓 After a very good night of sleep, I'm ready to face the new day and new week!
