Mid-September Beauty

I cannot believe it's mid-September already. We are entering into the time of the year that is my favorite. I love all the colors and it's been beautiful. We are in a bit of drought, but the weather has been gorgeous.

This weekend was probably one of the most relaxing that I've had in a long time. I wasn't canning or processing anything. I didn't have an agenda. I just relaxed. That's a good thing because I have major things going on for the next 5 weekends in a row.

The geese are starting to fly.

The squirrels and chipmunks are busy collecting nuts.

The bees are still busy collecting pollen.

I've been getting out and walking as much as possible each day.

I've also been a lot of my work out on the back patio. It's peaceful as long as my neighbors aren't out there mowing or blowing leaves. I have to laugh because almost every single time I sit out there someone decides that is the moment to do yard work.

It's pumpkin and squash season and our local farm markets have been selling them. My plan is to pick up a few so I can process them and get them in the freezer.

I moved my house plants back indoors since the colder temperatures were starting to affect them. Because I had divided and repotted them I have quite a few more inside now.

The cooler temperatures have put me back in the mood to do more baking and cooking. We had homemade pizza last night and soup made an appearance last week.

It's football season here so Dan watched a game last night while I sewed. It was very relaxing!

The only canning project I did last week was making grape juice the old-fashioned way. Put your grapes in a sterilized jar, add 1/4 cup of sweetener and then fill the jar with boiling water. Then you water bath can them for 15 minutes. After sitting for a few weeks you have grape juice. I've done this for cranberry juice as well and it works out every time.

I'm headed out to walk in a little while and then have some work to do on my upcoming retreat. I'm thankful for the beauty of this time of the year because it keeps me inspired.

Have a wonderful day and take time to enjoy the beauty around you!
