My Creative Head Space

I had to laugh this morning as I thought about a blog post to write. Every so often I think that I need to keep this blog focused, but that just feels boring to me. I am creative. I have many things going on all of the time and they are an eclectic mix of ministry, cooking, crafting, business, writing, and on and on it goes. It is how the Lord has hard-wired me and I feel like my blog has lost a bit of ME as I try to stay focused on one direction. I really am just going to start posting so that it's more reflective of who I am.

This post is going to be a glimpse into my creative head space. Perhaps some of you can relate to me. Some of you may be cringing and thinking, "Here she goes again!" "Hopping down zig-zagging bunny trails." That's the challenge of my brain. Everything ties together. As I walk and take pictures, ideas for writing or scripture passages pop into my brain. As I sew and craft, I often am problem solving ministry or business issues. As I write and organize events I get to use my creativity in planning. So it really is all connected.

This week has been a mix of ministry, business, sewing, and cooking. I'm preparing for a retreat next weekend. I've designed some flyers and brochures. I had multiple zoom meetings this week. I had an article to write. I have a couple of sewing orders to make. I have multiple ideas of what I can offer at the farmer's market this summer. I had fun in my kitchen. I restocked my cookbook at a local farm store (they sold out).

The interesting thing is that even my "ministry and business" activities use my creativity. As I come up with a program for an event I'm always thinking of new and creative ways to present material. As I walk and take pictures, I use creativity as I frame the photo and take the picture.

Here are some glimpses into my home and mind.

Tissue Covers for an order

Tea bag totes that need snaps.

Because my sewing room and office are one in the same it always kind of looks like a bomb exploded in there. I try and clean it up, but there is always some sort of project going on which makes it hard. When I'm having Zoom meetings, I attempt to keep the camera positioned so the mess isn't in my background. 😃

I have this fabric ready to go and received a request from a gentleman for a carrying case for a bible as a gift to his wife. I've not made those before so it'll be a good challenge.

Today I got started early. It's 9 a.m. and I've my coffee and time with the Lord, put the finishing touches on my conference schedule for next weekend, showered, cleaned up the kitchen, and am finishing this up. I have a zoom meeting. Working on some other items for next weekend. Sewing and then have a meeting tonight. Someone just texted me and needs a video for a local ministry that we help with. Our church has an upcoming golf tournament and we are raising funds for a local agency so I'm going to be doing the copies for that mailing.

It's an eclectic mix of activity, but I enjoy it! I do find that my shut-off valve happens around 7 p.m. and that's okay. I do know my limits and make sure I'm taking time to just relax.

Okay, I'm off to plunge into my day. Have a wonderful day!
