This was our view as we at dinner on Friday night. It was such a beautiful evening and a perfect way to celebrate my husband's birthday. I'm thankful for the beautiful area we live in.
Mondays are the day when I look back and give thanks for the ways the Lord has blessed me. This past week was kind of a rough one with some different stressors going on. But thanksgiving is the ongoing developing ability to have an attitude of acceptance that God works in all things. It is having intentionality in finding the ways that the Lord is at work, even when times are hard. I may not see perfectly in the moment. However, when I trust that God is good and that He loves me, then I can have faith that He is using all my circumstances to develop my character and draw me closer to Him.
Today I'm thankful for the following...
💓 Beautiful blue skies and low humidity.
💓 A sweet spot to work on my back patio.
💓 The ability to wrestle through some emotions and come out the other side with a stronger trust that God is going to work all things out.
💓 Celebrating my niece's graduation with family.
💓 Dropping everything to go pray for a friend in crisis. I'm thankful for the flexibility to do that.
💓 Wisdom to know when I've bitten off more than I can chew and developing wisdom to count the cost before saying "yes!"
I had been asked and agreed to make 60 bags of granola once a month for our local farmer's market boxes that people signed up to purchase. I was 20 bags into the task and running out of ingredients, when I came to the realization I was going to spend days doing this with my little kitchen oven. I usually charge $6 per bag of about 12 ounces of granola. I sat down and priced out exactly what it was costing me to make it, including packaging and labels, and realized I was bringing in $1.02 per bag which didn't include my time or the electric. So I had to sheepishly send an email to the farmer's market manager to let him know I was unable to do that. Lesson learned. The 20 bags I have are going to be used elsewhere.
💓 I am one of the speakers at an upcoming leadership summit and I have also been asked to speak at one of our district churches in early July. I'm thankful that both those messages came together this week and I'm just putting the final touches on both.
💓 I will be going through a coaching certification on Thursday and had to do some prework. I'm thankful for some new insights I've gained into my own personality and how I'm wired.
💓 I was able to put together a gift basket of homemade goodies for a raffle for our church's annual golf tournament. I'm thankful I could contribute as we are raising money for a local organization that works with those in need.
💓 My herb garden is doing very well this year and I'm thankful I was able to harvest some oregano and thyme from it.
💓 Dan's birthday gift was simple and practical this year and full of all the things he likes - coffee, mints, chocolate, notebooks, pens and colored pencils (for his math classes he teaches). And of course, the dinner out. Normally, I would have made him dinner but after all that granola, I had enough of the kitchen! lol
💓 An unexpected Saturday at home. Normally, I would have been at the farmer's market, but they had extended hours due to a city event and I couldn't do that because of a commitment in the afternoon. So I enjoyed the morning and part of the afternoon home.
💓 After two nights in a row of being wide awake at 2 a.m. I'm thankful that the rest of the week was a normal sleep pattern.
and finally...
💓 Being able to give thanks for the good days and have trust in the bad days. And the only way I can do that is to stay connected to the source of my strength.
