Menu Planning
One of my goals this year was to get back in the habit of making a menu for two weeks at a time. I find it helps me with my grocery shopping as well as just being better organized. Instead of staring into the refrigerator at 3:00, wondering what I'm going to do for dinner, I know ahead of time. This way I can make sure I pull out any meat the night before to thaw and prep. anything that needs to happen in advance.
My food bill has jumped about $75 the past couple of months and I think that just has to do with the fact that everything is more expensive. I'm buying the same amount of food but the cost is more.
Here is my menu for this week:
Monday
B - cereal, juice
L - Leftovers
D - Parmesan chicken, whole wheat pasta with fresh tomato & basil sauce, homemade Italian bread, tossed salad
Tuesday
B - Egg & sausage sandwiches, juice
L - Leftovers
D - Minestra soup, homemade Italian bread
Wednesday (It's Stephen's Birthday so he got to pick the menu. We are having the big meal at noon)
B - Waffles, sausage, juice
L - Double dipped fried chicken, Potato salad with pimiento & peas, carrot & raisin salad, homemade biscuits, birthday cake
D - Leftovers
Thursday
B - Cereal, juice
L - Homemade whole wheat bread, lentil soup
D - Baked salmon, rice, biscuits, steamed carrots
Friday
B - Blueberry muffins, cheese, juice
L - Leftovers
D - White bean & chicken chili, rice, cornbread, salad
Saturday
B - Men's breakfast at church (cereal for me and Emily)
L - Ladies luncheon at church (I'm making lasagna roll-ups), leftovers for everyone else
D - Homemade pizza, salad
Sunday
B - Cereal, juice
L - Leftovers
D - Small Group here. Everyone brings a dish to share. I'm probably going to make Spaghetti.
There you have it! It certainly is helpful to have a plan.

Terri,
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you have everything planned. When I am organized it seems I can handle what comes at me during the day.
How is your grandmother? Tell your mom that I am thinking about you all.
Miriam
Hi Terri,
ReplyDeleteLooks good. I am trying to get better at meal planning too.
Hugs,
Mama Turtle
Oh Terri, you put me to shame! My menus exist in my head and in the freezer! You are so well organised. I suppose when I had 3 children at home I was a bit more focussed on planning!
