Dutch Butter Cookies

I tried out a new recipe today and these were terrific! They were crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside and delicious.

Dutch Butter Cookies

Beat in order until well blended:
1 cup of butter
4 Tbsp. Crisco
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 tsp. vanilla

Combine and mix in until well blended:
2 1/2 cups flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda

Roll into 1 and 1/2" balls and flatten with a fork. Sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 350 degrees for 14 minutes.

Enjoy!

  3. Angela, Crisco is shortening (lard) though I only use the vegetable shortening.

  4. Angela, you could probably use vegetable oil or canola oil to replace the Crisco if you don't have shortening.
