Summerfest 2010
Our church sponsored a Summerfest today at the local park. It was so much fun and we had a wonderful turnout.
We had a traveling musician/evangelist come and our worship band joined him. We had free food - hot dogs, salads, desserts, popcorn. There was face painting, crafts & games for the children. We also had a Chinese auction where people could bid on various prizes.
The event was free, but we did accept donations and of course people who wanted to purchased tickets for the auction. The event was dual purposed. The first purpose is that all the proceeds are going towards our missions trip in October to help build a girl's orphanage in Chile. This is for teen girls who have aged out of the regular orphanage.
The second purpose was just to reach out to our community. It gave people a chance to hear the Gospel in song. We ended up raising $700 for the orphanage and had a wonderful time.
Here are some pictures of the day.
I'm tired, but it's a good tired!

What a fun day you all had, and raised much needed funds too. Well done!
