Multitude Monday
Provision. We say that God will provide and that we trust Him. Yet, more often than not, it's our checkbook balance we trust in. It's our full cupboards and full gas tanks that gives us comfort.
Dan and I have lived hand to mouth for most of our 23 years of ministry, yet this has been the hardest year we've ever faced. Some of it is the cost of living is going up and yet, we make less now than we did 20 years ago. It's easy to speak the words, "I trust that God will provide." but not so easy to believe it or feel it when you have $20 to last a week and mouths to feed, gas tanks to fill, bills to pay, and children who need to go to specialists.
I have to be honest when I say that I do have to daily and weekly fight down my feelings and trust what I know.
I know...
► God has provided for us during our 23 years of ministering to others.
► We have not gone hungry.
► We have a roof over our head.
► Our bills get paid.
► God has shown up and helped us over and over.
► God feeds the birds of the air and He loves us more than these.
Saturday was a day of pushing down the feeling of panic and stress and continually crying out to God and keeping my eyes on Him. I want to come to the point where I don't feel the panic. It requires continually staying in His word and prayer.
On Sunday, God provided for us way beyond my wildest imaginations. He provided gas for our car. He provided us with an unexpected gift that will help with groceries and bills. It was another reminder that I need not panic. That I don't have to even give it a second thought. That we need to continue to do what He has called us to do and He'll take care of the rest.
Today I'm thankful for blessings #1451-1464
♥ A son who loves to share what he is learning.
♥ Stephen making the Dean's List his first semester at college.
♥ Board games.
♥ Conversations with Emily.
♥ Plastic for windows.
♥ Old photos.
♥ Early morning quiet.
♥ The sound of roosters crowing.
♥ Gorgeous red sky.
♥ Sunshine across my floor.
♥ Birthday wishes.
♥ A beautiful moon outside my window.
♥ Reminders that God cares for even the birds.
and finally...
♥ God's provision just when we need it.

Terri- I feel just the same as you do this year. There have been moments when we have gone right down to the wire - the garage calling to say the car needs a repair ...and we did not have the money, but reluctantly we used the credit card, as the car was needed. 10 minutes later the post brought a card from a friend, containing a cheque which paid the repair bill. God does provide, every time. But at 4am, it is not always easy to have faith!
ReplyDeleteI know He will continue to bless you and your family - and ours too - much love xxx
Dear Terri, I think a lot of us know that feeling of 'am I going to make it till the end of the month'. It is hard living on reduced incomes, pension etc.
ReplyDeleteBut God is so very faithful.
Life is hard for us too but i am praying to God and trusting him with all my heart. Keeping you and your situation in my prayers too.
ReplyDeleteGod bless sue
