Wednesday Words of Encouragement

Jeremiah 17:14 (NLT) ~

O Lord, if you heal me, I will be truly healed;
    if you save me, I will be truly saved.
    My praises are for you alone!

A friend who is an International Worker shared a story that when she and her husband were planning on going overseas to a country who predominately featured peanuts in their cooking, they were concerned.  Their young daughter was deathly allergic to peanuts and it was a very real worry that she would come in contact with them in this country.  So they went to the elders in their church and had her anointed with oil and prayed over for healing.

The next day, her daughter got off the bus and told her that she ate a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup on the way home that a friend had offered her. When her mother asked her why she would do that, the little girl responded, "Mommy, God healed me, remember?"  After keeping an eye on her for awhile, my friend realized that God did indeed heal her!

Oh to have the faith of a child!  To simply believe that God will do what He says.  Jeremiah had that faith.  He believed that God would remain true to His character.  When He says He will heal, He does it.  When He says He saves, He does.

We want to be like that, but often our doubts take over.  We pray and ask for a healing touch in our lives, but there is still that little bit of disbelief in the back of our minds. Much of that comes from the belief that God is like man.  We have been let down by so many people in our lives that we begin to think God is the same way.  We forget that He cannot by His very nature, break one of His promises.

Let's work to develop a child-like faith.  Ask the Lord to help you trust and believe that He will do what He says.  Let's begin to follow the creed....God said it.  I believe it.  That settles it.
