Get Serious

We had our monthly ladies' group last night and we are working our way through the Bible study, Seeking Him: Experiencing the Joy of Personal Revival by Nancy Leigh DeMoss and Tim Grissom.  Normally, I really dislike these type of studies because they just seem kind of lame.  "Fill in the blank" and "answer this question" as they guide you towards what they are looking for.  I'm not looking for fluff; but prefer a meaty study.  This one fits the bill.  I'm enjoying it and it is forcing me to take a look at some hard things in my life.

Colossians 3:1-4 (MSG) ~

So if you’re serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ—that’s where the action is. See things from his perspective....

Your old life is dead. Your new life, which is your real life—even though invisible to spectators—is with Christ in God. He is your life. When Christ (your real life, remember) shows up again on this earth, you’ll show up, too—the real you, the glorious you. Meanwhile, be content with obscurity, like Christ.

How about you?  Are you serious about living for Christ?  What does that look like in your life?

Maybe, it's stopping a sinful behavior or habit.  Perhaps it will mean changing your attitude towards others.  It could mean that your priorities need reshuffling.  Whatever it is, work hard at it.  Following Christ is not easy but when we truly strive to become like Him, our lives will be rich with his grace, as He works with us to change us into people who reflect Him.

Let's roll up our sleeves and get serious this year!
