A Day Late and a Dollar Short

Dan and I sleep with white noise and have done that ever since we were first married. At night, we have a fan running so that we can sleep peacefully.  I awoke Sunday night around 11:30 with the strange sensation that something was missing and realized that the power was out.

The rest of the night was one of fitful sleep as we didn't have the normal noise and bit of light glowing from our alarm clock. The wind was howling and our house and roof were full of creaks and groans that were quite scary at times. The wind took down quite a few trees in our areas and along with them, the power lines.  We ended up not getting power back until around 4:30 yesterday afternoon.

Needless to say, my Monday goal setting post is a day late and my entire day yesterday was fairly unproductive without electricity.  So today I'm hitting the ground running because I have so much work to do on my retreat which happens next weekend. Yikes! We have 231 women registered and I'm looking forward to seeing women and many friends from around our district.

Weekly Goals for 4/16-4/22/19

Spiritual/Personal Development
1. Personal Bible reading and prayer at least 5 days - one of the requirements of my consecration is to read through the Bible twice in two different versions.  This is an exercise I've never done and I'm finding it rewarding as I'm starting to see a cohesiveness woven between the Old and New Testament.
2. Required reading for consecration & personal development:
Divine Healing: The Children's Bread by Keith Bailey
The Broken Way by Ann VosKamp
3. Fiction Reading for pleasure
Gilead by Marilynne Robinson

Husband/Marriage
1. Find a way to encourage him this week (could be something small or something big, but some way to let him know that I love him)

Children/Family
1. We took Nathan out for breakfast yesterday morning. Anything that isn't in his normal routine really throws him off and not having power yesterday was one of those. We decided to go out to breakfast so he wasn't just pacing the house the entire day. lol
2. Going to visit Emily on Saturday and meeting my parent-in-laws and Dan's brother's family there for the day.
3. Track down and figure out what's going on with Stephen's cap and gown for graduation on May 5th.
4. Figure out how we are going to get his tickets for graduation.  He drove down to the college this past weekend and went to the office yesterday to find out the tickets won't be ready until Thursday and they won't mail them.  Since we live 5 hours away we have to try and figure out something.  Sigh. They said they'll have a table at the graduation to hold tickets.
5. Purchase cookbook for Stephen (carry-over from last week)
6. Book hotel for graduation weekend

Ministry
1. Continue to organize and get things together for next weekend's retreat
2. Meet with friend to stuff packets for retreat
3. Board of Ministries meeting Tuesday night
4. Go shopping for items needed for retreat next week (door prizes, etc.)
5. Come up with activities/discussion for Sunday night's Journey Youth
6. Meet with mentor to go over consecration questions and have dinner

Household
1. Dust living room
2. Deep clean bedroom
3. Strip beds and remake
4. Vacuum entire house
