Multitude Monday

It's Monday again and this is going to be a very busy week. I want to start it out on the right foot by taking a moment to look back and remember all the ways I saw God's hand at work last week.

💓 We had an early Thanksgiving and I'm thankful that we were able to spend it with Dan's parents. 


💓 We had safe travels on Thursday to spend Thanksgiving Day with Emily, her boyfriend and his family. 


💓 We got a tour of their dairy farm. They have a huge operation with 1,500 cows. The thing that warmed my heart is that no matter how old my daughter gets, she still can't keep her hands off animals, even with allergies. 😀


💓 I was able to start on our Christmas decorations. I got as far as putting the tree, lights and garland on before I stopped. But I'm thankful it's up and I'm taking my time this year. 


💓 A wonderful Church service yesterday. 

💓 Science experiments that work. My apple scrap vinegar turned out beautifully. The jar on the left is a new batch being started.


💓 Having some time and motivation to sew yesterday. 


💓 God's provision. This week I'm stepping into a new position as church administrator. I'm thankful for this opportunity to use my gift in administration as well as a job that allows for flexibility as I continue in my other ministry roles. 

and finally...

💓 I'm thankful for Mondays and the opportunity to look back and see how the Lord was working.

Today is my sixty-second birthday and it's hard to believe I've achieved that....um....seasoned age! My first thought this morning was one of not being sure that I like it. However,  as I thought I about it, I decided to take joy in the fact that I've reached an older age. Because age comes with benefits. Benefit #1 - I'm a bit wiser.   When I look back at some of the decisions I made when I was younger, I cringe. With age has come the ability to slow down and think things through before I make major upheavals in my life. I've also discovered that getting worked up about certain things is just an absolute waste of emotional energy. Benefit #2 - I'm enjoying my life.   As I've aged I've learned all kinds of skills and hobbies and can honestly say that I'm never, ever bored. Eating to Live

  Despite the unexpected busyness and interruptions, I have been plugging away at my weight loss as well as writing the plant-based, whole food cookbook. Recipe testing fell by the wayside the past two weeks, but I've still gotten a good chunk of the book done. I also got on the scale this morning for another one pound loss which makes a total of 61 lbs. since I started this journey back in July. It's second nature at this point and I have so much more energy and feel healthy. The only negative is that because I've lost so much weight I'm seeing some sagging, crepe-papery skin happening. Yuck. Some of that is age and I need to figure out some toning exercises. It's definitely a life-style change, but a positive one which I'm so thankful I started on. When Christmas Doesn't Quite Feel Like Christmas

About a week ago I felt myself feeling down. Things are so different nowadays and the parts of Christmas I've always looked forward to weren't going to be happening. It's definitely been an adjustment as the kids have become adults. Yesterday was seeming a bit of "Christmas feels just like another day." However, I didn't want to sit around and wallow in sadness nor waste time wishing things were the same. So I decided to start seeing ways I could just enjoy the day. It irritates me a bit when people can't change or be flexible and make room for new things, so I certainly don't want to start to become that way myself.  So I decided to enjoy some of the things I've always done that make Christmas special and then embrace the new. I also stayed off social media as much as possible yesterday because that never helps me feel satisfied with my own reality.
