Early Morning Ponderings

Another new week is here with it's own struggles and blessings. My desire is to keep moving forward and trusting the Lord to give me what I need for that day.

My tendency, as I'm sure many struggle with, is to get anxious about the future or what's coming next. Worry is like a spinning wheel, stuck in the mud. It keeps me from going anywhere but spits up a bunch of mud and dirt, and makes the rut of anxiety go even deeper.

I was having my quiet time this morning and opened my bible to the passage in Mark 11:22-24. Jesus replied to them, 'Have faith in God. I assure you: If anyone says to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. Therefore, I tell you, all the things you pray and ask for—believe that you have received them, and you will have them.

We all have different mountains in front of us that feel daunting and it seems like they will never crumble. My eye went to the phrase, “does not doubt in his heart.” And “believe that you have received them”. I think what often blocks our prayers from being answered is that deep down inside we struggle with really believing God will do what we are asking. Or we hope He will answer.

I’m working on praying for some of those big mountains in my life and then believing and letting go of the worry and anxiety. Because if I trust that God will answer in His time and really believe that in my heart, there is no need for me to fear.

Many are struggling with some huge mountains at the moment. Leave it in the Lord's hands. Believe that He will move it and then live out your days and weeks as if He will answer it.

When we can do that, we will get out of the mud and be able to move forward with our life.
