Wednesday Words of Encouragement: Wash those Windows
Ephesians 5:11-17 (NIRV)
Have nothing to do with the acts of darkness. They don’t produce anything good. Show what they are really like. It is shameful even to talk about what people who don’t obey do in secret.
But everything the light shines on can be seen. Light makes everything clear. That is why it is said,
The sun is out today and though it wants to go back behind the haze, it pops out from time to time. As I sat in the sun room having coffee this morning and looking at the sun shining brightly through the windows, I realized how dirty my windows are. It's definitely time to bring out the Windex and paper towels and get to work wiping the smudges and dirt off them. The amazing thing is that when it is dreary, cloudy or dark out I never notice how disgusting they look.
As believers,we can also look decent and good when people see us. We seem to have it together and moving in the right direction. Yet, when the light of Christ shines on us, we can see how dirty we really look. In that light, our impure motives show up. The smudges of hidden sin are revealed. The dirt of wrong thinking, attitudes, words and actions come into the light.
We have two choices. We can pull the shades down and try to hide. We can live in denial of those things and pretend that we have it together. The other choice is to allow Christ to work in us to wash those dirty windows. We can ask Him to reveal those things in us that need changing.
Wake up my friends! Wash those windows. Don't continue in those bad habits. Ask the Lord to help you put to death that old sinful nature. Come into His light. Let Him reveal these things in you. With Christ's help you can be clean and beautiful so that His love will shine clearly through you.

Rise from the dead.

So be very careful how you live. Do not live like people who aren’t wise. Live like people who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity. The days are evil. So don’t be foolish. Instead, understand what the Lord wants.
